Mereula Torooti believes there is more work to be done as she prepares for the 2017/18 Women’s Sevens Series following the Oceania Rugby Sevens Championship in Suva.

This was after they went down 24-0 to New Zealand in the women’s Cup semi-final

The Nawairabe,Nasikawa, Navosa native made her debut for the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side during the Central Coast 7s in Sydney, Australia last month.

“There is more to be done on the field in terms of discipline and I also have to improve my fitness,” she said.

“I need to improve my skills and I have to do that before the series starts, there is plenty of work to be done.”

The 20-year-old who plays for Central Chiefs believes there should be a lot of competition so they could improve.

“There are lots of good backline players in the team and the onus is on me to fight for a spot.

“I know what is expected of me and I will train hard to be in top condition.”

Torooti has three siblings but she is always reminded by her parents to be at her best.

“My parents tell me to be a humble player and a good listener to my coaches.”
