It will be the first time for Roko Sports Nakavu rugby sevens team to compete in a major tournament like the Raka 7s which is from November 24-25 at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

This village team from Namosi have been sponsored by Roko Sports which an Australian based- company, owned and operated by the Rokosuka family.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, team manager Joeli Rokosuka was overwhelmed with the sponsorship and thanked the company for their support.

“This will be the first time for the side to participate in a tournament,” he said.

Rokosuka said what has further boosted the players was when one of their villagers Alefoso Rauto made it to the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s training squad. He said that Rauto would be leading their campaign.

“The boys are all very excited as they’re going out to represent Nakavu village and also hope to make a mark for themselves in whatever tournament they play in

“For me personally, I feel this sponsorship has been be a great boost for the players to play to their best. Preparations have been  quite impressive as they have been training for a month now.”

With the rise of Rauto, the villagers are hoping that he would follow the footsteps of former Fijian 7s captain Setefano Cakau, Leo Naikasau and Wallaby winger Marika Koroibete who were born and raised in Namosi.
