Located near the Golden Lady of the Fijian tourism industry – Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa Connect Café is an ideal spot where visitors can enjoy coffee.

The project is a subsidiary of the Na Hina Limited, registered under the Nakuruvakarua Women Investment. It opened its door in September, with a total investment of over $60,000.

Manager Bulou Lele Vosailagi said the entire project was inspired by the Turaga Kalevu, the late Ratu Kinijioji Nanovo Vosailagi.

According to Ms Vosailagi the business was a form of women empowerment.

“This will allow members of the tokatoka to actively be involved, we have other properties but this one is special because women are coming together with skills and resources,” she said.

“Today we are slowly advancing. We started off with basic coffee, and now tea, milo, cakes, and fish and chips.”

She added the name has a deeper spiritual meaning to her people.

“Where women come together and connect despite their differences,” she added.

“One of the main objectives was to bring unity amongst the women, so women where we can sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere.”

They have future plans in the next 10 years to build an event centre with a conference room. There are hopes to have similar joint venture business projects on the same piece of land.

They have five staff, and two managers.
