Prime Minister and COP23 President Voreqe Bainimarama had a special visitor at the Fiji Pavilion in the Bonn Zone on Monday.

It was 15-year-old Zuriel Oduwole, an American climate and education activist.

Speaking to the Fiji Sun after her meeting, young Zuriel spoke passionately about the areas she was impressed about after meeting Mr Bainimarama.

She had also given the COP23 President a rundown of her work.

“I wanted to meet with Mr Bainimarama so we could talk about the effects of climate change in Fiji and I think it went really well. I wanted to talk to him about climate change which is why we are all here at COP and discuss with him the work that is being done.”

Zuriel is a film maker and a girl education advocate. She is also a strong reminder that despite American President Donald Trump deciding to move America out of the Paris Agreement discussions, Americans like Zuriel are working to help nations and individuals in their fight against climate change.
