Fijian Primary School Athletics Association confirmed 546 athletes from seven teams would take part in the2017 FMF Chow Games in the central division at the ANZ Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

Association’s technical officer Maka Tawanang said the seven participating teams are Suva One, Suva Two, Nasinu, Veiuto Primary, Wainibuka, Namosi and Yat Sen Primary.

Tawanang said they had registered 263 athletes in the girls division and 283 boys.

“Last year, Veiuto Primary School (VPS) was the first school to compete on its own rather than joining a district. Now YPS made the same move thus the number of participating districts this year has decreased compared to last year,” Tawanang said.

She said they would be using the photo-finish and electronic timing system as required under the local and world governing body for athletics.

Tawanang is pleading for more to turn up to help in the running of the event.

It’s difficult to securing officials for the Games and I’m urging teachers to come forward and assist.’

The ticket prices are adults ($5), children without school uniforms ($3), children without school uniforms ($2).
