Baber: Players Need Time

Fiji Airways Fijian 7s coach Gareth Baber aims to create a development environment that will mould and develop their new players in the long run.
He said made the comment after the Seremaia Tuwai-captained team won the Oceania Sevens Championship at the ANZ Stadium over the weekend.
“Some need more time to develop and we want to give players opportunities to play international teams and see how they fared against good competitive oppositions on that level,”Baber said.
He said they are several players in his squad whom he viewed they needed more time in developing their skills.
“I am just trying to get the best of everybody concerned.”
Some of these players included speedsters like Banuve Tabakaucoro and Uluiyata Batinisavu.
“I have looked at players and why they should be included down to their point of difference and how they can get that in to the game,”Baber said.
“It is all very well having a point of difference but obviously you have got to understand the game and put yourself in the right position in the field to make that count.”
Baber clarified they would not be fielding any team for the upcoming RAKA 7s tournament next week as they would be focussing on the upcoming World Sevens Series tournaments and the Pacific Mini Games next month.
