Lesli Lance Nikola and Aimee Elaisa won the sportsman and sportswoman of the year awards yesterday.

The Year Eight students of Veiuto Primary School in Suva received their awards during the annual prize-giving. Lesli, 14, of Kadavu was proud of the award and attributed it to his hard work and dedication to sports.

Lesli aims to be a fullback for the Flying Fijians in future as he loves playing rugby.

“I want to become a Flying Fijian in future and hope to be the first for our family”

Aimee, 13, of Rotuma, took up swimming when she was four years old. “I trained very hard to win and I’ve won a lot of medals taking part in competition around the country. I wish to continue swimming career and represent Fiji in international competitions,”she said.
