Kids Cancer Charity Campaign Raises $21K

In just two months, a charity campaign raised $21,000 to assist children with cancer through the Walk On Walk Strong (WOWS) Kids trust foundation.
A cheque was presented to the charitable group yesterday. Children who will receive assistance were also at the event which took place at Damodar City Centre in Suva.
The ‘Save a child with a dollar campaign’ was launched in August by Suva businessman and Damodar Group chief executive officer Div Damodar to seek public assistance for children suffering with cancer.
WOWS Kids Fiji team leader Viola Lesi said: “It is money that we need to support children suffering from cancer. I am very thankful to Div (Mr Damodar) for using his status and resources to raise the platform for WOWS and the work that we do; not only to raise fund, but also to create awareness.”
Ms Lesi said the cash would help the foundation pay transportation bills that would ease the burden on parents of kids coming from faraway places such as the Northern Division for treatment.
Mr Damodar said he is hoping to garner more support to create cancer awareness in the country and help even more children.
He said: “Next year we are looking at a different concept going forward and again on bringing awareness cancer in kids and other issues in the society right now.”
Children at the presentation, as a treat from the Group, also got a chance to watch the new superhero movie, Justice League.
