Roy’s Surprise Move

Moves are underway to get Vodafone Fijian football captain Roy Krishna in time for tomorrow’s clash against Estonia at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.
The Wellington Phoenix star striker was ruled out because of club commitments but however, their A-League game for this weekend has been cancelled.
When contacted yesterday national football manager Shamal Sharma said Fiji FA is trying everything possible to get Krishna for the international clash.
“The Fiji FA president (Rajesh Patel) and chief executive officer (Mohammed Yusuf) are in talks with Wellington Phoenix to get Roy Krishna for the game since their A-League game for this weekend has been postponed,” Sharma said.
“Should everything go well, we might see Roy getting the next available flight to Fiji and feature on Sunday.”
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel confirmed Krishna’s coach has given him the release however they are working on other logistics to get him in for this historic encounter.
“We’re definitely trying very hard as there were certain conditions by Wellington Phoenix and we’re lucky that their game against Western Sydney has been cancelled so the coach has agreed to release him.
“We have to meet certain things for Roy to come which we have already done it and Fiji Airways is facilitating a flight for him to come on Saturday and be back with his team on Monday.
“We’re keeping our fingers crossed and the fans can expect Roy to feature on Sunday, also we’re depending on our coach Christophe Gamel on how he will utilise him. We’re 95 percent sure of his availability.”
While the team are not leaving any stones untouched for this clash, Sharma said they suffered a huge blow with injuries of top choice goalkeeper Tevita Koroi.
“Misaele Draunibaka and goalkeeper Tevita Koroi have serious injuries which might rule them out of the Estonia clash.”
Veteran goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau, who dropped out of the team due to work commitments, would be recalled to join the side and feature on Sunday.
