Day Of Upset

In a major upset Central Swifts beat a star studded Capital Force 44-33 in the second round of the Digicel Punjas Super League Netball Series at the National Netball Centre in Suva, yesterday.
The Tailevu-based Swifts coach Seva Koroi was impressed with their performance and hopes to maintain it.
“I’m really happy with the team’s performance today and I feel they really stood out with their play on the court,” Koroi said.
“For me personally, I think it was not an easy game for us as we played against a top team who had a lot of national reps and to win was really challenging.
“I hope the girls get motivated from this win and keep striving to better their level of performance and skills throughout the competition. Also, the girls have worked really hard over the week for this game which paid off. We were fortunate to have a few national reps in the side with the likes of Lusi Biukoto and Una Rauluni.
“Despite the win the side need to work on their court-work, defence and teamwork as well to maintain possession throughout the game.”
Koroi said the side are expecting to qualify for the final.
“Last year we lost out in the fifth place playoff and this year our aim is to reach the final and make a mark for the team. I believe after defeating last year’s runners-up Capital Force I feel the side has the ability and drive to meet our target.
“I would like to urge to all Central Swifts supporters to please come out in numbers next week and support the side.”
