The Vodafone Fijian football players were told to give everything for their country and prove critics wrong when they face Estonia 3pm today at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

After naming the 23-member squad, Fijian head coach Christophe Gamel reminded the players last evening that some fans would be there to watch them lose.

“That’s the mentality some fans here have and it’s wrong,” Gamel said.

“Apply the plan and enjoy the game. Show the level you’ve reached. Everybody makes mistakes. You make a mistake but keep on trying and that’s the only way you become better.”

Although Wellington Phoenix striker Roy Krishna was not able to make the team, Gamel urged his players to continue from they left off.

Gamel said the coaching staff and management have done their part and the onus is now on the players.

“Tomorrow is your day and not my day. Tomorrow the play is yours and the reserves are mine.”

He reminded the players that they have every confidence in their potential as he named tough Ba defender Remueru Tekiata to captain the side with Simione Tamanisau as the vice-captain

Speaking to SUNsports, Gamel said he would name his line-up before the game.

“I would like to thank the coaching staff and management for assisting me in preparing the team,” he added.
