Veiuto Primary School won the girls division in the 2017 FMF Chow Games at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.

The Nasese-based school were the overall winners with 21 gold, 18 silver and 15 bronze medals, Suva One was second (21, 15, 16) while Suva Two settled for third (8, 15, 6).

VPS manager Teresia Ravonu acknowledges parents, teachers and coach Antonio Raboiliku for their support.

“This win means a lot to the school,”she said.

“This is the second year we are representing our school and not part of Suva One or Two.

“I want to thank our parents for their support as without them this would not have been possible.

“We also want to commend the effort from our head coach Antonio Raboiliku. “He’s been with us during our eight weeks of preparation.”
ADIKUBU WINS

Makereta Adikubu of Wainibuka won her second gold medal in the Under-14 girls 800m final.

She clocked 2minutes 67seconds. The Nailega villager also won the 1500m final with the time of 5minutes 38sec.

“I walk to school for one hour in the morning and in the afternoon. I want to thank God for giving me the victory and strength.”

Adikubu is the Year Seven student of Turagarua Primary School.

Meanwhile, in the 800m results Salome Vakatawabai of Namosi won gold in the U13 grade (2:38mins), Vutaeli Bua of Suva Two won silver (2.42) and Akanisi Tinairokosuka of Wainibuka won bronze (2.47).

In the U13 boys John Rao of Suva One won gold (2.16mins), Tuamateu Moceica also of Suva One (2.23) and Iowane Viani of Namosi bronze (2.25).
