Police await medical clearance to question three men over incident

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said that three men who are in hospital after an alleged drunk-driving incident over the weekend would be questioned when the necessary medical clearance is received.
The men, including the driver of a minibus, were admitted at the Lautoka Hospital yesterday after their vehicle crashed into a truck on the Vuda Bridge in Lautoka.
Ms Naisoro said all three were believed to be under the influence of liquor.
She said that around 5.50am, the minibus, LM 261, driven by a 27-year-old of Field 40 in Lautoka was on its way to Nadi when the incident happened.
She said the minibus allegedly veered onto the opposite lane on the bridge and crashed into the truck which was heading to Lautoka.
The truck, driven by a 43-year-old of Wainadoi of Navua was carrying timber.
The truck’s cab was extensively damaged but the driver received minor injuries.
