Students of Nukuloa Sanatan Dharm School were encouraged to always speak the truth no matter what.

This was the message shared by the Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum when he officiated as the chief guest at the school’s prizegiving in Ba on Tuesday.

“No matter what you do, always speak the truth. Even if you have done something wrong, always say that I have done it, don’t lie,” Mr Sayed- Khaiyum said.

“If somebody asks you if you have done it and you know you might get into trouble, if you tell the truth you will not get into more trouble.”

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum encouraged the students to study hard and do their best.

“If you do your best, you will always feel good,” he added.

“If you do your best your parents will feel good about you too and your teachers will also like the fact that you are doing your best as well.”

He also highlighted on the Government’s free education scheme.

“You no longer have to pay school fees. You get free textbooks, subsidised bus fares and all of these things are done for one particular reason and that is to ensure that as many young Fijian children get as much education as possible,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

To the parents and teachers he said: “We have to encourage our students to do their best and pursue the area of study that they like studying.

“Parents please keep encouraging your children to do well and encourage them to go to school. Also provide the right environment for them so that they can study.”

27 kindergarten students from the school graduated yesterday.
