Bravo Zulu, PM Tells Police Band

The Police band learned a new expression in Bonn, Germany -‘Bravo Zulu’- meaning a job well done!
The band members heard it from Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
Police Commissioner, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho, explained where the expression came from when he welcomed the band members in Suva after their great performance at COP23.
He said ‘Bravo Zulu’ was a naval term. He said the welcome event at Nasova was to recognise the leadership and performance of the whole band during the COP23 summit.
He said he was happy that the Police band had supported the PM’s presidency of COP23 and contributed to its success.
“We have been watching video clips and pictures of them performing. They were not only lifting the morale of the band there but also they were a big morale booster for the Fiji Police Force itself while doing our work here to see members of the institution shining in the world event.
“We thought to give them some time with their families. We thought we must do something for them to acknowledge them before the Government does their official welcome on Friday,” Brigadier-General Qiliho said.
“It is really a proud moment for us that Government saw fit to take the Police band.”
He said Police had boosted their operations during the beginning of this festive season. He said band’s performance had lifted the spirit of the force
“When you go out and do something great and shine at a big platform, there will be more invitations coming in.
“My worry now is that they have shown their capabilities, they will get more invitations to perform and I will not stop them from performing. Because it showcases Fiji and it will contribute to more people visiting Fiji and know about Fiji.
“We are surely looking forward for the future engagements not only with the Government but with other organisations as well,” Brigadier-General Qiliho said.
