Bonding Keeps Bati Strong

The bond forged between students in schools last a lifetime.
A case in point is three former Queen Victoria School students who are members of the Vodafone Fijian Bati team who play the Australian Kangaroos in the semifinal of the Rugby League World Cup at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane at 10pm tonight,
Tui Kamikamica, Viliame Kikau and Pio Seci played through the grades at Matavatucou. They last featured together for the Tailevu based-school in 2008 before they went their separate ways.
Tui’s mother and schoolteacher Nanise Kamikamica said the chemistry between former students from the school is special.

“The special bond and support for each other not only exists between our children but also between the parents and it carries on even after our sons have left QVS,’’ Nanise said;
“And with that we wish Tui, Kikau, Seci and all the Bati all the best in this week’s semifinal against Australia.
“The bonding in the Bati team is stronger and this was evident in the game against New Zealand in the quarterfinal.
“They defied all odds, surprised many because they are special and at the same humble and spiritually strong.”
Meanwhile, founding president and Life Member of the Fiji National Rugby League (FNRL) and former QVS head boy Sitiveni Rabuka conveyed his best wishes to the team in a statement.
He wished them all the best tonight’s RLWC semifinal against the Australian Kangaroos.
