Basketball Fiji joins millions around the world in supporting “Violence against Women” by holding a 3×3 tournament. The tournament will be held in conjunction with the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women.

BF chief operating officer Laisiasa Puamau said yesterday the tournament was a way for them to give back to women in the basketball community.

“They work tirelessly behind the scenes on and off the court to achieve amazing outcomes for basketball because it is a gender inclusive sport,” he said.

“It is a perfect time to leverage the support to the many followers of basketball especially on the promotion of important social messages.

“So why not capitalise on that audience and spread the message that Basketball Fiji does not support violence against women.”

Puamau said representatives from various key women’s community service organisations and services would be present at the tournament.

“They will be in attendance to answer questions from competitors and spectators alike,” he said.

The Hoops for Health (H4H) funded-tournament would be held at the Marist Brothers High School’s Lambert Hall in Flagstaff, Suva tomorrow from 9am.
