FAITH KEEPS US GOING: KEV

Vodafone Fijian Bati captain Kevin Naiqama says, the team’s belief in their culture and faith in God is what keeps the team together.

The 28-year old Nabuna, Koro , Lomaiviti native will lead the Fijians in their third Rugby League World Cup semifinals against the Kangaroos at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane 10pm tonight.

“We are really strong in our culture and faith,”Naiqama said.

‘So throughout the week we have our devotions every day.

“We sing hymns that’s why we are close and strong in a short time of our preparation.”

Naiqama’s tears of joy after a 4-2 upset over the Kiwis last weekend captured the world’s attention but the skipper gave thanks and glory back to God Almighty.

“We will bring in that culture to people here in Australia can experience,” he added.

The Fijians are adamant of a positive performance against the Kangaroos tonight.

“We play our best football when we relax, that’s what makes playing so enjoyable.

“When we are around each other we enjoy each other’s company but when it’s time for training everyone is wrapped in so come game time everyone is able to perform to their best of ability,” he added.
