It was a proud moment for Muhammad Zubaid Ali when he scooped the top academic award at the Varavu Muslim Primary School’s prizegiving ceremony at the school.

His father Mukhtar Altaf Ali said that his son was a hard working child and his dedication towards his studies would take him a long way.

“I am proud of my son and I know he will have a bright future because of his hard work,” Mr Ali said.

“He also scored the highest external exam mark in the whole of Ba district when he was in Year 6 and from that he has not stopped working hard.”

Zubaid picked up several other awards at the prizegiving on Tuesday.

He won the special Arabic language award, Year 8 Progressive award, a Certification of Distinction in the National Green Olympiad 2017, Fiji Mathematics Competition Distinction Award, Leadership Award for being the HeadBoy and Quiz Award organised by the Ba Teachers Association.

He plans to become an aircraft engineer in the future.
