Impressive Start For Striders

It was an impressive start for the Striders womens rugby 7s club in the first one of the 2017 Raka 7s tournament at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.
The side thumped Tailevu/Naitasiri 29-0 in their first pool game and thrashed Vonoyauyau 35-0 in their second game.
Team coach Tavaita Rowati was pleased with the girl’s performance.
“I guess we had a good start on the first day of the competition we hoping to build on with our performance from each game that we play,” Rowati said.
“I have also reminded the players despite our win we will not underestimate any team as at the moment as the underdog teams are the toughest side to take on.
“For most of the players this is their first time playing in a big tournament as such where there are 16 women teams competing for the title. It will create a good platform for the players to develop their skills and at the same time get some exposure.
“Despite, winning both our pool games I have analysed areas of play that needs to be worked especially on our defence, attacking skills and also we have to capitalise on our strengths to allow us to remain in the competition and qualify to the quarters tomorrow.”
