Kajal Takes Top Prize

Kajal Raj was lost for words when she was presented Dudley High School’s Dux award at the school’s prizegiving ceremony on Wednesday.
“I just can’t express my feelings,” she said.
“I didn’t think about it – I just studied, worked hard, but not for the prize; just because I wanted to.”
Ministry of Education director examinations and assessments unit, Seci Waqabaca was chief guest at the prizegiving ceremony and proudly presented Kajal with her award.
Kajal dedicated the award to her parents and all her subject teachers – in three of which she also took the Year 13 subject prize award.
Kajal’s mother Renuka Devi said she could not believe it when her daughter was bestowed the school’s Dux award.
“I was really surprised when my daughter told me she came first and got Dux,” Ms Devi said.
“She studied hard and I want to thank God for that.”
Kajal is planning to enroll in a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the Fiji National University.
