Vonoyauyau women’s rugby sevens team aim to get maximum exposure at the 2017 Raka 7s tournament at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

The team from Savusavu in Vanua Levu recorded mixed results in the opening day losing to Striders 35-0 and drew with Blue Light Sisters 10-10.

Coach Marika Ratulevu emphasised the need for players to get exposure by competing in local tournaments.

“I think we had a slow start today. We lost to Striders but earned a draw against Blue Light Sisters,” Ratulevu said.

“The players need to step-up to qualify for the Cup quarters. But the aim is to allow the players from the village experience this type of competition.
