Motorists accessing the Vatudova Bridge have been requested to be patient as maintenance work is underway.

Fiji Roads Authority chief executive officer Jonathan Moore said: “It is currently undergoing periodic maintenance.

“Works include stabilising the runners which holds the running planks, removing and replacing running planks, cleaning drainage holes and washing the bridge deck.”

Mr Moore said the public can expect to travel on an improved and safer bridge once maintenance work is completed.

“Maintenance works are between the hours of 8am to 5pm daily.  During this time, traffic is directed to use the existing Bailey bridge,” he said.

“Once maintenance work is completed the public can expect to travel on an improved and safer bridge.”

He said work on the bridge expected to be completed by December 8 if weather permits.
