Table Tennis Target 3 Gold Medals

Fiji Table Tennis Association president Anthony Ho is confident the team will win three gold medals at the Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu next week.

“At least three gold medals is our target,” Ho said.

Their contingent includes New Zealand based- Wong Qi, Fiji No. 2 Phillip Wing, Young Jae Park and 12-year-old Vicky Wu in the men’s and youth divisions.

The women category comprised of Olympian Sally Yee, Grace Yee, Carolyn Li and Harvi Yee.

They also have a very impressive para-table tennis outfit which consists of three wheelchair athletes and two para-athletes.

“We have the Oceania No.1 Mere Rodan, Akanisi Latu, Oceania men’s No.1 Lakoba Taberanibou and our two standing para-atheletes John Taoni and Laniana Serukalou.”

He said they had been doing their best with the limited resources during their preparation.

The table tennis competition begins on December 4, and they will be departing for Vanuatu today with the first batch of Team Fiji athletes at the Nadi international Airport.
