Police took out the Mana Whey Fiji Coral Coast 7s in the Final Four tournament at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka on Friday. The Blues beat defending champions McDonald’s Saunaka 25-14 in the Cup final after a handy 15-7 lead at halftime.

Police fielded their regulars like Kini Douglas, Sitiveni Waqa and Sakeo Raloa. Saunaka had Masivesi Dakuwaqa, Ilisoni Nalala, Sevuloni Lutu, Filimoni Marawa, Sakiusa Nakalevu, and Asivorosi Naliga.

Saunaka manager Pesi Nasua was gracious in defeat indicating that they lost to a better side.

“We were pretty confident of returning with the trophy but it was not to be but we look forward to the Coral Coast 7s in January,” he said.

“It was a good outing to come this far and we had a good side but it was a learning experience for us.”

Saunaka hammered Ravuka Sharks (Yadua) 24-0 in the first semifinal while Police edged out Suva Stallions 24-12.

In the semifinals: Saunaka beat Dratabu 19-15, Ratu Filise lost to Ravuka Sharks 17-7, Suva Stallions defeated Cuvu Blues 14-5, while Police beat Henibua 20-5.

The semifinalists get a direct ticket to the Mana Whey Coral Coast Sevens 2018 which will be held at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka from January 17-20, 2018.
