This Christmas, put your personal interests aside, come forward to render services and work together.

This was the message by Minister for Health and Medical Services, Rosy Akbar during the Christmas campaign for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, themed ‘Light the World’.

“We need to light someone else’s world with the goodness that we possess,” she said at the MHCC foyer on Friday.

“It is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the noblest work carried out by the LDS Church in reaching out and positively changing the lives of families and communities in Fiji.”

The church runs a number of televised sermons and to add to that a billboard displaying the same message has already been erected in town leading up to Christmas.

“I see this initiative, as a great medium to celebrate an auspicious event such as Christmas that unites our families and communities.

“We must remember that each one of us here represents a community, as such we must reach out and contribute towards the welfare and development of society as a whole. In my role as the Minister I have at many a times stressed the importance of exceptional service.

“Especially the service we offer to our external consumers and how we treat each other internally within the Ministry.

“We can have the best facilities, the most experienced and qualified team but if we are unable to recognise the value of a human being, our work and efforts are pointless.

LDS Service Centre manager, Adolf Johansson said the campaign was in light with what the Church was doing across the world.

“Each Christmas we celebrate the life of Jesus Christ, the Light of the World.

“This year we are asking everyone to use a calendar in the month of December for inspiration as you plan your Christmas activities and help Light the World by serving those in need.”
