Miss Fiji Hailey Qaqa continues her advocacy in strengthening family values and weaving in climate action to sustain our Islands.

The 23-year-old from Taveuni is amongst the nine contestants vying for the Miss Pacific Islands pageant crown which is to be held at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, this week.

“Initially I have been advocating on these for the last two pageants,” she said.

“We need to teach at an early stage in life, the aspects of accountability, respect for nature and environment around us.

“Something I would like to voice out to the younger generations is that, the environment is theirs, it needs to be looked after, and they need to take the leading responsibility.

“I come from a family of 11 siblings and the bond we share is really strong even though we live in different countries.

“Everyone comes from a family, it is something that everyone can relate too and take on board, so the right values begin at home which then can escalate on further.”

Miss Qaqa is currently pursuing studies in Human Physiology and Anatomy with the University of California through distance learning.

Her message: “Be confident in yourself and your own ability because you never know the impact you have on people and those who are close to you.”
