The Old Capital last week observed World Human Rights Day in the lead up to the main day yesterday.

The Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission (HRADC) in partnership with community advocates for human rights and the United Nations Development Programme Pacific Office (UNDP), held celebrations in Levuka Town in Ovalau.

55 participants got together to create awareness on human rights and access to justice.

Village leaders and youth groups, including children, from across Ovalau participated in the event. This event is one in a series being held across Fiji to mark Human Rights Day 2017.

The Fiji Access to Justice Project funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by UNDP, supported this event which was undertaken in joint collaboration between the HRADC, the Legal Aid Commission (LAC), and NGO Community Advocates.
