A 41-year-old taxi driver who was  allegedly caught in possession of 3.6 kilograms of marijuana was yesterday granted bail by the Nasinu Magistrates Court.

Avinash Nambiar, who is charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs, was granted bail with strict conditions.

State Prosecutor, Constable Setereki Mocevakaca did not object to bail, but requested the Court to impose strict bail conditions on the accused.

Therefore, apart from cash bail, the accused was told to produce two sureties with $500 bond each.

Furthermore, the accused was told to surrender his travel documents to the Court and a curfew was imposed on him between 6pm to 6am daily.

The accused is also to report to the Valelevu Police Station on Monday and Friday.

Magistrate Sofia Hamza has adjourned the matter for plea on February 16.
