Why We Lost All Our Games In Dubai? Tanivula Tells

A disappointing result and performance is how Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s coach Iliesa Tanivula described the team’s performance at the Dubai Sevens tournament last weekend.
Arriving at Nadi international Airport yesterday, Tanivula said a lot of factors were at play in the team’s loss.
“I just wish we had a big team selection base like the boys team,” the former Blues winger said.
“We don’t have that luxury with us. I have really struggled to get players in and the current girls need help too.”
Despite the loss though, Tanivula said the team has done a lot and they gave their best in Dubai.
“What’s done is done. We have had the results we had there. We will now go back to the drawing board and look at how best we can pick ourselves up so this type of performance is not repeated.”
Tanivula said there was no long break for the team as they had to prepare for the next tournament.
“We will break for New Year and the very next day we are back in camp. We need to set things right. We need to train hard.
“Our next tournament is the Sydney Sevens and we’re wanting to better the scores and performance at that tournament.”
Tanivula said that bringing in overseas based-players was a good thing but it was also a costly exercise.
“But we can’t do much because we need them in the side.” he added.
