Teams from around the country took part in the annual Grasshoppers Netball Club Festival which ended in Suva yesterday.

Aimed at delivering community-based netball development programmes, the festival was first incepted in 1997 by husband/wife John and Alumeci Sachs.

“Thirty teams from Suva,  Levuka, Savusavu, Lautoka and Fiji Invitation took part,”Alumeci said.

“Next year we’ve confirmation of the participation of teams from New South Wales, New Zealand and Vanuatu.

“So it will be a bigger, better tournament and we are looking forward to it.”

The Grasshoppers Netball began with nine senior netballers from the Nasinu Netball Association.

Now the club boasts more than 100 netters competing in the Under-9, U12, U14, U16, U19, and Open grades in the Suva and Nasinu competitions.
