Team Fiji para table tennis men’s wheelchair category gold medallist Iokoba Taberanibou dedicated his gold medal win to his four month old son Tomtan and wife Bwebwea.

“This win is for my sonny boy Tomtan and my wife Bwebwea, who are back at home in Fiji, I miss them very much and I can’t wait to go back and this gold medal is for them,” Taberanibou said.

“It was not easy leaving them behind, not just coming to the Games but every time I go training.”

He shared how his sister had send him some videos of his son and that really motivated him.

“I know that if people want to be successful in life, sacrifices have to be made, but I thank my wife for supporting me in my decision to compete.

“Right now I just cannot wait to get home to them and I’m looking forward to seeing them.”

Taberanibou successfully defended his Pacific Mini Games title and is still ranked number one in the Oceanic region.
