Team Niuboto Brothers won their own sevens tournament in Kadavu yesterday.

Media liaison officer Onisimo Moi said the tournament ended on a high note.

“It has been two days of quality sevens rugby played by the teams in Kadavu,” he said.

Team Niuboto Brothers fielded Olympian Masivesi Dakuwaqa and former Fijian 7s forward Pio Tuwai.

They proved too strong with a 29-5 win over Gasele in the Cup final and went home $10,000 richer.

“A big thank you to our sponsors Uro Shop and Niubuto for creating another platform for the people of Kadavu,” he said.

“It was a tough two-day tournament as we saw some of the big names from Suva like LSU Army, Western Marine and the Kadavu teams battle it out.”

Niubuto Brothers 7s team assistant captain Luke Lutunavanua said the tournament will only get better over the years.

“We’re planning on opening the tournament up to teams from around the country with the vision of having a solid two days of sevens rugby competition,” he added.

Other Winners:

Plate: LSU Army, Bowl: Namalata
