Para Table Tennis Reps Triumph

Team Fiji Para-Table Tennis made a clean sweep at the Pacific Mini Games at the Korman Sporting Complex, Port Vila, Vanuatu, last night.
Laniana Serukalou won the category eight standing event, while John Christopher won the nen’s.
Iokoba Taberanibou won gold in the men’s wheelchair competition while Mere Rodan won gold and Akanisi Latu won silver in the women’s division.
Table Tennis Fiji president Anthony Ho said this indicated that minor sports like table-tennis and weightlifting were good examples of how they could contribute to the medal tally.
“Well i think people should start recognizing the importance of minor sports and i think that has been mentioned in the past, if Fiji wants to be on top” Ho said.
The table-tennis contingent has contributed a total of nine medals with four gold, two silver and three bronze.
“That is the objective of team Fiji, if you want to be on the top you have to consider the minor sports they contribute in a lot of medals.”
He said the table-tennis and weightlifting teams have contributed a lot of medals.
