An Australia-based Fijian social community group has decided to financially support Lifeline Fiji.

The timely help will be a great boost for the organisation.

The Aus-Indo Cultural Group headed by Davendra Nand, which is based out of Sydney, has suggested two concerts next year to raise funds for Lifeline Fiji.

Mr Nand has conducted charity shows in Australia and made donations to the needy and for the health sector in Fiji.

His group wants to help out because the work done by Lifeline Fiji is critical.

“We are looking at a long term funding relationship with this life saving organisation which is doing a tremendous job that we want to continue. It saves lives and that matters,” Mr Nand said.

The multicultural concert Mr Nand plans to bring to Fiji will include well established Fiji-born singers from Australia.

Lifeline Fiji programs director Jeremaia Qalobulailakeba said their sister organisation, Lifeline Australia had ceased their financial aid until further notice because of some undisclosed reasons.

Mr Qalobulailakeba said the organisation appreciated the quick intervention of Mr Nand and was looking at a long term relationship as his organisation faces challenges.

“We need the financial back up to be able to help continue with our work and spread awareness through our objective of saving lives,” Mr Qalobulailakeba said.

Mr Nand said he was looking to host the concert in May next year and until then he would support the organisation from his charitable funds.
