With increased flights in the New Year, our national carrier will be expecting another new A330 aircraft as early as March.

Fiji Airways managing director and chief executive officer Andre Viljoen confirmed this at the event launching the airline’s new direct route from Nadi to Tokyo Narita at Port Denarau last week.

“We hope to have it here by March.” Mr Viljoen said.

The arrival of the new aircraft will help services on the new Tokyo route. It will be the fifth long-haul widebody A330 in the fleet.

“The flight will go three times a week and special celebratory ticket price is on sale for $999.”

He also revealed that the new Premier Lounge formerly known as the Tabua Lounge -will be officially opened at Nadi Airport next week.

“We will have its official opening on the 18th of December.

“We want to give our customers the best service there is and this is just one of those ways.”

The Fiji Airways Lounge will be located on Level 1 of the Nadi International Airport’s upgraded Terminal Building.

The services include lounge management, catering services, spa services and treatments and bar and beverage services.

Design response

The lounge design has responded to these factors looking to achieve a variety of zones within the space and to overlay this with the unique and world recognised Fijian Brand identity which resonates with the culture of Fiji.

Subtle use of the base pallette gives a light and contemporary feel to the lounge coupled with selective use of timber detailing to screens and columns.

Furnishings are contemporary in style and bring in the vibrant colour of Fiji in selective quantity as associated within the brand pallette.

The curved wall that winds through the space has two options shown – one reflecting the tropical aspects of Fiji and the other referencing the Masi patterns that speaks to:

Tama – Friendly service

Qalivanua – Interconnection of people      and nature

Key considerations are that it be:

World class welcoming
authentic and true to brand uniquely Fijian modern, comfortable functional

The Lounge will need to cater to:

Both business travellers and families.
