Nina The Face Of Fijian Fashion Festival

The Fijian Fashion Festival official logo  has been launched.

The inaugural launch of the Fijian Fashion Festival was held last Saturday night at Cafe Noir.

The Fashion Festival is organised by the Fashion Council of Fiji and is scheduled for June 1 and 2, 2018 in Suva. Venue for the festival is yet to be confirmed.

Council chairman, Faraz Ali said: “The logo’s name is Nina.

“One of the things that we identified in the council was that there should be no face to the Fijian Fashion Festival because the festival is about the designers.

“The central focus is on all the designers who are involved and who are growing their businesses and the brave people who put their collections out to be judged and bought or not every single year.

“Though we are trustees and guardians of this event, it belongs to the industry and so therefore Nina is the face of the industry.”

He said Nina is the quintessential Pacific women.

“She celebrates her identity by her hair; she is dressed in a nautilus shell which is the most beautiful housings of one of our Pacific animals in terms of sea life.

“We Pacific people are so connected to the sea and so closely connected to all sea life.

“Nautilus is a beautiful sea creature and can withstand a lot of pressure, it moves very quickly just like our industry does and so essential her clothing is representation of us and of our industry.

“We are all so tough, we are deep sea people we are the sort of industry that jumps in the deep and takes big risks to be able to survive and to be able to do our businesses

“Clothing is our shell it’s our daily home. Nina represents all of these things.

“Nina is our industry’s present and our industry’s future so we are very happy to have revealed her and we are very happy that it’s going to be the identity of our platform.”

The organisers are aiming for 30 best designers who are committed to the course and able to put together their books by the due dates and meets all the criterieas to be part of the festival.

“We need to get used the idea that have to be disciplined and that we have to grow and so that is going to be our focus in our industry moving forward

“We are accepting applications now until the end of February but all collections need to be complete two weeks before before the first show date because we need to catalogue it.”

About the sponsors

Mr Ali  was happy to announce some of the sponsors of the event FBC Television, Signz Plus and Star Printery

“They have come on board immediately have been supporting everything we have been doing

“The most exciting thing to announce that Victoria Wines has come on board as a major sponsor and in fact providing the naming sponsor for next year.

They are currently in talks with a global luxury brand who they represent to be our naming sponsor for the Fijian Fashion Festival and it’s very exciting.

“In the modern industry  in Fiji, it’s the first time that we have had a global naming sponsor so we looking forward to announce that in the weeks to come.”

The Fijian Fashion Festival will run over two nights and one whole day.

The council is heavily committed to making Suva the global centre for Pacific Fashion.
