A pharmacy in a densely populated area of Nadi thanked a community for its support by providing free medical check-up and advice on herbal medicine.

The Votualevu Pharmacy in Nadi was recently flooded with residents from Votualevu who received free checks for blood pressure, sugar, and hypertension and then advised on the different herbal medicine available.

Pharmacy managing director, Nilesh Kumar, in conjunction with Mega Store Hardware managing director Irish Khan, have promised more check-ups for residents around the area.

“Next time we will have a doctor available because we want to help create awareness of NCDs,” Mr Kumar said.

“All the checks we did for those that came today were FOC.

“It’s our way of thanking the residents of Nadi.

“However, the main thing was screening as many people as we could, considering the rise in NCDs.”

A long-time resident and Justice of the Peace, Arvind Deo Singh said he was grateful to Mr Kumar and Mr Khan for what they were doing.

“I was born here in Votualevu and before we had to go to Namaka and Nadi Town, but now the pharmacy here opens until 9pm everyday.”

Mr Kumar said more than 200 people had come in by midday and more were expected throughout the rest of the day.
