Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Commander, Rear-Admiral Viliame Naupoto has revealed plans for next year, saying that it will be a busy one for the defence force.

One of the biggest events is the 40th Anniversary of Fiji’s contribution to UN Peacekeeping.

“Next year we will be part of three big events. We have the 40th Anniversary of Peacekeeping celebrations, the general elections and the Sukuna Bowl challenge,” Rear Admiral Naupoto said.

“I thank all of you for the hard work that you have displayed and we look forward to the events next year. We must ensure that this year is an accident free festive season. We must ensure that this year is an accident free festive season for the military.”

He said there were also talks of a Pacific event with other chiefs of defence forces.

“Talk has been going on with other Pacific Islands on the idea of a Pacific Tattoo. During the Military tattoo last Friday the New Zealand and Australia defence were there and the idea of the Pacific Military tattoo in 2019 was discussed,” Rear Admiral Naupoto said.

“This year was a good year for us. We should strive to achieve what we couldn’t achieve this year. The military tattoo was a happy occasion.”

Rear Admiral Naupoto reminded the soldiers and sailors during the military year end parade at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua yesterday to spend time with their families during this festive season.
