“It’s the holiday season and people are eager to travel with family and we are urging everyone to take extra precaution as the weather is also a major factor and roads can be slippery and dangerous when it has been raining.”

Eye witnesses told of hearing screams before a loud bang and screeching of tires could be heard.

“When we all got to the scene there was blood everywhere and broken glass.” witness Jovilisi Baka said.

“They couldn’t take the man out. They had to wait for the fire truck to come from Nadi before they could cut the car and take the man out. It was so frightening.”

The man’s death brings the total number of deaths from road accidents to 63 compared to 53 at this time last year.
