The Fiji Sun Letter of the Month winner for August, Shiu Kumar received a Kambrook rice cooker as his prize.

The 48-year old from Lautoka said he never thought he could win.

“I have been writing to the Letters to the Editor for five years and I never thought I could win something just by raising my concerns,” Mr Kumar said.

“My letter was about our current issues. I feel that people should write what they are concerned about.”

His son, Kreeth Kumar, also won a prize as one of the winners of August’s Letter of the Week. He walked away with a Philips Iron.

“I was surprised when I received the call that I won because it was the first time I have written to the Letters to the Editor and I wasn’t expecting anything,” Kreeth Kumar said.

“My letter was about the rape cases in Fiji and I feel that this issue needs to be addressed and the Government should do something about it.”
