Team Fiji 400 metres rep  Miriama Senokonoko made a strong comeback after a lapse of four years.

She won her heats with a time 57.99seconds at the Korman Sporting Center, Port Vila, Vanuatu yesterday.

“I felt a lot of anxiety stepping up to the starting blocks because it has been a long time since i competed in the 400m event,”she said.

“I was nervous and scared of the other athletes who had been training longer than me.”

She last competed in the event during 2013Coca Cola Games for Adi Cakobau School.

The 22-year-old twisted her ankle and her knee during a training in 2013 during her scholarship tenure in the United States of America where she tore her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).

“I only got back to training after my father Lekima Nakanabou and coach Nemani Kunia advised me to start training. A few months later I am here representing Fiji.”

She was grateful to God for the win and urged all Fijians to keep praying and supporting Team Fiji athletes whether they win medals or not.
