2 Gold, 1 Silver For Senokonoko

Team Fiji athlete Miriama Senokonoko made a good comeback after four years winning three medals yesterday.
“I am excited and I could not believe what just happened,”she said.
“I came and achieved my goal because it was all God’s plan. Even if I did not win anything I am still grateful and thankful.”
She clocked 57.34seconds in the 400m final to win gold, silver in the triple jump behind Papua New Guinea’s Rellie Kaputin with a distance of 13.26metres.
Then she was part of the women’s 4x100m relay team that upset PNG’s Toea Wisil led team clocking 47.43secs.
The quartet consisted of Serenia Ragato, Elenoa Sailosi, Makereta Naulu and Sonokonoko.
Team Fiji athletics assistant coach Joseph Rodan Jnr said they expected Senokonoko to come back strong.
“It was just a matter of her putting things together, we always knew she is a strong runner and when she got everything in line on the day, it is very hard to beat her,” Rodan Jnr said.
He said just eight weeks ago she clocked 80secs now it’s 57.34secs.
“This shows the amount of work she has put in. This is a true indication of those who work hard, they deserve what they get, the amount you put in is what you get,” he said.
Senokonoko will be competing in the 4x400m relay today.
