Team Fiji football coach Christophe Gamel lashed out at the players for inconsistency and threatened to leave national coaching job.

“I am not interested in this kind of football,”Gamel said after the 4-0 win over Tonga on Tuesday.

“I’ve wasted so much time restarting the process right from the beginning.

“We wanted the districts to work more, to provide better players for the national team.

“Otherwise I will not stay, it is simple,” Gamel said.

He made the comment following Fiji’s inconsistent performance at the Pacific Mini Games.

The team won two games and drew two and playing in the gold medal playoffs is in doubt with one match to play against New Caledonia tomorrow.

Gamel lashed out some of their senior players for not being consistent and also blamed the district clubs for not contributing enough by not providing more detailed information of players they are sending to the national team.

Gamel revealed some players opted to play for their district clubs rather than the national team.

“Some players do not want to work with me, opting to play for their own districts. I can tell you that they will not be able to progress in their district.”

He said they would be focusing on playing and winning against New Caledonia on Friday.
