The Dilkusha Methodist Children’s Home at Davuilevu, Nausori, was filled with the Christmas spirit yesterday after the China Railway First Group (Fiji) Co. Ltd staff members visited the 43 children there.

Home superintendent Deaconess Sala Kacivakawalu said the children were blessed to be visited by the group with Christmas presents for each one of them.

The youngest is a one-year-old baby and the eldest is 25, she said.

“The home is always filled with joy, fun and laughter,” Deaconess Kacivakawalu said.

“We are really thankful for the gesture shown by the staff and it is our prayer that the Almighty will bless them for spending their wealth and time with our children here. Despite the bad weather and their busy schedule, they left everything behind and came to spend time with the children.”

Company acting chief executive officer Wang Gang said: “Christmas Day is an important day in the Christian calendar. Christmas is celebrated to remember the birth of Christ and it’s a time to present gifts to friends, families, and the less fortunate.

“We want to make a difference and put a smile on the children’s faces. We are pleased to do something for the children- especially to this generous Home during this festive season.”

To the children, he said: “You are bright students and have the wisdom to be inspired and motivated.

“No matter what the situation you are going through if you stay focussed and learn to listen to your elders and teachers, you will become successful in life.”
