He’s been selling vegetables for the past nine years and Sunil Datt is happy with how much he’s earned and all the people he’s met over the years.

The Saweni resident sells his produce from Martintar and has a variety of vegetables selling at a cheap price.

“I sell pineapple, pawpaw, banana, tomatoes, chillies, tomatoes, cabbages, pineapple etc and people like it because it’s not only cheap but it’s always fresh.”

Datt buys his vegetables from wholesale producers and he said that at times the prices were expensive.

“Sometimes I can make a profit of $150 to $200 a week. It depends too on how much the wholesale producers sell their fruits, vegetables and rootcrops for,” Mr Datt said.

“I pay rent here for $300 a month so I have to make sure I sell as much as I can.”

The 56-years-old has two daughters who are both teachers.

“I am happy that my children are both married and they have both achieved their life goals to be teachers. I can continue with this business and enjoy life.”
