Team Fiji athletics assistant coach Joseph Rodan Jnr views in the gold medal win the 4×400 Women’s and the silver medal by the men’s teams as a big achievement building for the future.

“We are building for the future with our young athletes it was a good result and I want to congratulate them for that,” Rodan Jnr said.

The women comprised Makereta Naulu, Serenia Ragatu, Elenani Tinai and Miriama Senokonoko clocked 3min:54.43secs.

While the men’s team of Kameli Ravoci, Petero Veitaqomaki, Sailosi Tubuilagi and Samuela Railoa clocked 3:17.88.

“We have got this group of young talents that is going to be there for the next eight to 12 years and they will be here for the next three games and that is something we are working towards.”

Head coach Jone Delai said most of their athletes were first timers and this was a good exposure for them.
