Keeping things in the balance in all areas of his life propelled All Blacks and Crusaders star Setareki Tamanivalu to international stardom.

And the Yasawa native has urged aspiring rugby players in Fiji to do the same.

Speaking at a press conference at Nadi International airport yesterday, Tamanivalu said he was grateful for his upbringing and had worked extra hard to achieve his dream of becoming an All Blacks.

“I always believe that if you want something badly, you will do all you can, you will go beyond what’s required to achieve it and that’s exactly what you need to do. Don’t limit yourself, work hard, stay focused and most of all remain humble in all that you do,”he said.

Tamanivalu described his 2017 rugby season as a phenomenal one and was looking forward to an even better 2018.

“The year has been good. We have achieved a lot. And I am happy with performance yet I know I must train even harder for 2018 and in Super Rugby, we will defend the title and that means working extra hard.”

Tamanivalu is in the country along with fellow Crusaders teammate, first five –eighth Mitchell Hunt and No.8 Jordan Taufua as guests of national carrier Fiji Airways. They are here to meet key Fiji Airways partners and staff.

The players brought the Super Rugby trophy with them and fans at the airport were given the opportunity to take photos with the trio and the cup.

“Many in New Zealand have yet to see this cup and it’s been good to bring it here to Fiji for the people here to see it.” Tamanivalu said.

He is here to also spend Christmas with his family who have turned up at the airport to welcome their hero home.

Fans, young and old turned up in numbers to meet the players and take photos with them at the specially prepared booth set up by Fiji Airways and Crusaders management.

Tamanivalu said he was looking forward to having more game time with the All Blacks.

“I’m looking forward to what next season has in terms of All Blacks commitment and game time. Really excited about the future,” he said.
