The $5 million investment of a mall at Labasa town is expected to open by March.

Owned by Charan Jeath Singh Group, the mall development is expected to create 200 employment opportunities.

The three storey mall will have retail outlets, a food court, game centre, two theatres and half of the building will occupied by the University of the South Pacific, Pacific Technical and Further Education (TAFE).

Charan Jeath Singh Limited director Swaran Singh said more are expected to be employed by the company as they plan to extend into the cinema industry.

“The ground floor of the building, which has retail outlets, opened earlier this year and has created employment.

“Kontiki opened its office last week which shows there is a lot of development in the North.

“For the theatre, there will be two cinemas which will have 100 seatngs and the price of the ticket will be made reasonable for the people of Labasa,” he said.

Screening of the movies will start at 10am.

The mall will have a lot of recreational activities.

Mr Singh said parking would not be a problem for the mall.

“We recently bought a property behind the mall which we will demolish and be used as a car park.

“The available space can cater for 50 cars,” he said.

“I have planned well for the car parking space because I have seen shoppers finding a lot of difficulties in parking near the supermarkets in Labasa.

“The project is designed in a way to provide all services for every customer, business and students.”

Mr Singh said that other projects will start by 2020.
