Remand accused Kelepi Salauca who escaped from the Court House in Suva on December 14 this year was further remanded yesterday.

Salauca appeared at the Suva Magistrates Court before Magistrate Deepika Prakash.

He told the court that he did not understand the charge against him.

Salauca claimed that he was questioned on a different matter and was charged with another. Magistrate Prakash further remanded him in custody and made an order for a lawyer from the Legal Aid Commission to visit Salauca in remand to explain the charge against him.

It is alleged that on the date of the offence, while being in the lawful custody of a Special Constable, Salauca escaped from custody.

Police prosecutor Inspector Jitendra Singh served the accused with full phase disclosures.The case has been adjourned to December 28 for mention.
